Our next EVMA camping trip at Douthat State Park is scheduled for September 14 through 16. EVMA Membership gets you this weekend free, but space is limited. E-mail Penny at membership@evma.org for more info and/or to reserve your space.
Some commonly asked questions:
1. How does it all work?
The club has a limited number of campsites reserved. We share sites with up to 3 tents per site. The trip is free for EVMA members but space is limited so you have to register with me by e-mailing membership@evma.org. On Friday evening we usually have a pot-luck dinner and on Saturday evening a spaghetti dinner. We have organized rides. Sometimes we have a night ride too, so bring lights if you have them. About a week or 2 before the trip I e-mail more detailed information to the people who have signed up.
2. Do you guys all leave together?
Usually not. You can use the EVMA forum to coordinate with others if you want.
3. Will I need to drive?
Maybe. I recommend car-pooling because we are limited to 2 vehicles per site. E-mail me if you have space or need a ride, or post on the forum.
4. Will I need to provide all my own camping supplies?
Yes, but if anyone needs a tent or other camping stuff let me know.
5. When do you general get back from the trip?
The campsites have to be clear by 12 pm. It's up to you what time you leave the park.

Hey Penny,
Were you aware that the MORE annual Douthat camping trip (organized by the Northern VA chapter) is scheduled for that same weekend? Was wondering if it was a coincidence or planned...

Either way, more mountain bikers = better!!
No complaints here...
I agree completely... the more, the merrier!
Just wasn't sure what the logistics were for so many people hitting Douthat at the same time. Last year was my first time there.

So is this a joint camping trip with EVMA and the 2 chapters of MORE, or two events that happen to be on the same weekend?
They are separate events that happened to fall on the same weekend.

OK, let me reiterate:
1. The information I posted pertains to the EVMA camping trip.
2. EVMA pays for the campsites therefore only EVMA members and their families are eligible.
3. To make a reservation you MUST e-mail me at membership@evma.org. A post on this forum is not sufficient. You do not have a confirmed reservation until you receive an e-mail from me saying you are on the list.
4. Make sure your dues are current before you e-mail me.
