In my exploits of looking for new trail and digging into past VA biking history I came across the “Escape From Craig County” XXC race. I know from stories that this was a Kyle Inman race (and is slated to be risen from the ashes this fall) and I came across a map of the bald mtn area. So my question for those of you who’ve raced this on years past is this: In comparison to the Dragons Back, Middle Mtn. Mama and Massanutten Hoo Hah XXC courses, how does the Escape from Craig County course compare? Is it worth a drive out there to ride the “course” if you’ve never ridden it? The course map looks to be minimal singletrack with a healthy dose of jeep trail and fire road.
